Iraq Media Bias

Answering the charge that coverage of the Iraq war has been biased, mainstream media spokespersons are offering up yet another collective, "Moi?" Yet what if the media reported a basketball game by only announcing when one side made a basket or forced a turnover, and ignored anything good the other team did? That's what current Iraq coverage looks like.

We only see the deaths caused by the cutthroats and thugs, only the mosque bombings, only the people who feel dissatisfied with progress. We seldom see coalition progress, coalition strategy, or the number of terrorists killed or jailed. No wonder public support is down.

I couldn't agree with you more! I have friends overseas and hear from them weekly the great things that are being done - schools built, utilities up and running, the Iraqi army being trained. But if you read the paper or watched the news, you wouldn't know that! And you know who suffers? Our brave men and women who are putting their lives on the line to ensure our safety and freedom. Thanks for keeping it real!

What a great analogy! I've always tried to put the bias in words - most of the time they aren't publishing false information just lack of goods news to go along with the bad. And what's sad is they are only announcing the points, turnovers, etc. that diminishes support for our troops. What is so wrong with acknowledging the accomplishments made by our soldiers? I guess political bias outweighs patriotism for our country and the troops who need our support.
